We know that for many of us, the main focus of a transportation system should be our baby’s safety and comfort, but it’s also essential for you to get a product that matches your individual needs. With all the options in the market, it can be hard to find a stroller that matches modern parents’ lives, needing a product that is not only easy to use but aesthetically pleasing, so you look good while out and about with your baby. Of all the options on the market, our team did a Cybex PRIAM review because we could see that this product can be a perfect fit to fulfill those needs.

Overview of the Cybex PRIAM:

Cybex was founded in Germany around 2005 because there was a demand for an easy-to-use product. Thanks to innovative designs, their strollers have managed to get in the children’s transportation market as one of the main options on the market. In the Cybex catalog, you can also find mid-end and low-end products, with the common features of safety standards and ease of use. As we mentioned before, the Cybex PRIAM and MIOS are part of the Platinum line of products. Even if they share many features, the PRIAM is made for people who need a practical full-sized stroller with many features for the baby’s comfort and ease of use for the parent, while the MIOS is made for parents who need a portable and stylish stroller. One of the main differences between them is the wheels’ design, as the PRIUM has two big rear wheels that are made for the stroller to be driven on almost any kind of surface, and with the right accessory, you can even use it on snow.

Things to consider before buying a Cybex PRIAM:

The Cybex PRIAM is a luxury stroller that will be practical and useful but look good and stand out in any place you take. The stroller is maneuverable on almost any surface, and with the flat position, you can even drive it upstairs and downstairs quickly.

As this is a high-end stroller, it can be a little too expensive for parents with a limited budget, compared to other options in the market that might not have everything that the PRIAM offers but may be similar.

Another great feature of the Cybex PRIAM is the customizability, at the moment of purchase you can choose one of the different frame colors (Rosegold, Matt Black, Chrome with black details, and Chrome with brown details) and seat unit colors (Soho Grey, Deep Black, Autumn Gold, Nautical Blue, Mountain Blue, Mustard Yellow, Khaki Green, Manhattan Grey, Midnight Blue, and Stardust Black), special designs (Springblossom Light, Springblossom Dark, Rebellious, KOI Crystalized), and limited editions (Cybex by Karolina Kurkova, and Scuderia Ferrari Silver Grey and Victory Black).

Key Features:

Setup process:

The instructions manual of the Cybex products are usually well organized; the only downside of this particular manual is that the steps are explained only by pictures, and it can be confusing for some users. On the other hand, as Cybex is innovative and goes with the trends, they have created a video tutorial on how to assemble the stroller, adjust and use the different features, and a checklist for you to read before using the stroller with your passenger. The instructions manual also includes the steps to follow at the moment to use the Cybex PRIAM stroller as a travel system, the frame includes the adapters, and among the options, you can find:

  • The PRIAM LUX Carry Cot: This option is made for the newborn to be comfortable; it includes a breathable mattress and two mesh windows (that also work like peek-a-boo windows) to improve the air circulation for the baby to be fresh during hot days of summer.
  • The Cybex Lite Cot: This is an attachment for the seat unit that works as a newborn cot for the first 6 months of the baby, and after that, it can be used as a wind stopper to protect the passenger of the different kinds of weather.
  • The Cloud Z infant car seat: This is one of the Cybex most awarded products because of its safety results in every test done, thanks to this, this infant car seat is among the main options in the market with other great options, the Cloud Z is the upgraded version of the awarded Cybex car seat Cloud Q, known as one of the lightest in the market.

In the instructions manual, you can also find how to attach all of the accessories that you can buy for the Cybex PRIAM, the platinum Foofmuff, the snack tray, the insect net lux seat, the insect net for lux carrycot, the cup holder, the platinum changing bag, the parasol, the skis, the kid board, and the PRIAM front wheel adapter.

Age Range:

As we already checked the Cybex MIOS we can say that this is one of the main features to take on consideration at the moment of choosing between them because even if the MIOS can carry the same weight, the space, and design of the seat unit and canopy of the PRIAM make the stroller more spacious and comfortable for the passenger. The Cybex PRIAM can carry up to 55 lbs, which is good because it can be used for many years to come. The Cybex PRIAM seat unit can carry babies from 6 months, but if you get the travel system, whichever option you choose you can use it from birth, and given the weight and height limit of this stroller we can say that it can carry your passenger until he or she is around 6 years old.

Design:

This is one of the most remarkable common features of the Cybex strollers, as their designs are made to be innovative and user friendly. The Cybex PRIAM is made over that concept, as you can see that all of the Platinum line features are very intuitive to set up, use, and both comfortable for the baby and for the parent.

For the baby, the seat unit is made with a soft-to-touch fabric that is also washable; the size of the canopy is extra-large to give our baby enough space to be comfortable during the walk. If you choose to use the stroller as a travel system you also have plenty of features made for the baby’s comfort, on the PRIAM LUX Carry Cot includes a breathable mattress 100% cotton and two mesh windows that help with the air circulation during hot days, if you choose to use the Lite Cot attachment the soft fabric will keep your baby warm and work as a windstopper, and last but not least, the CLoud Z is the safest way to transport your baby, thanks to the security standards that Cybex car seats follow.

On the other hand, the comfort for the parent comes from the ease of use of its features, the Cybex PRIAM is very user-friendly and practical, the telescopic handlebar has leather accents for a fancy look and a comfortable touch for the parent, the storage basket can carry up to 11 lbs, and you can access it from any side of the stroller. The non-flat rubber tires and the size of the rear wheels help the PRIAM to be adaptable to use on almost any surface. On the other hand, the front wheels can be changed for bigger wheels with the PRIAM front wheel adapter for rough terrain or with the skis to use it on the snow.

Portability:

As this is a full-sized stroller you would think that is not portable. Still, comparing many other options in the market the Cybex PRIAM has a very compact size when folded so is easy to store in small spaces or the trunk of your car, also, the one-hand fold helps in a moment of a hurry. There is a special feature that our team could notice during this review, and it’s the flat recline position for the stroller to be able to go upstairs and downstairs without taking the passenger off of it.

Comparing the Cybex PRIAM with the MIOS wouldn’t be fair on this specific characteristic because the MIOS stroller is made to be lightweight and portable. Still, it doesn’t have as many features or the capability of going to different kinds of surfaces like the PRIAM.

Safety:

The safety standards of Cybex is one of the features that have made them one go up so quickly on the children’s transportation market. The frame of the Cybex PRIAM is made with reinforced aluminum, making the stroller very resistant and able to carry a good amount of weight without any trouble. The main safety feature is the five-point harness, which is easy to put on and take off, the straps are adjustable to the passenger’s shoulders and they are padded with a soft-textured fabric, so it doesn’t harm the baby’s skin. After the harness, the next safety feature is the bumper bar, which is attached to the frame, so in case the baby is not using the harness, the bumper bar will do the job.

On the brake system, the Cybex PRIAM works with a single pedal behind the rear wheels, which is very easy to activate and deactivate because it happens to be sandal-friendly and barefoot-friendly, and thanks to the non-flat rubber tires the stroller won’t move at all if you push it.

Price:

Cybex has many different products to reach different markets, we already did the research and we could see that the prices among their products don’t vary much, the silver line is where all their most affordable products are, you can find infant car seats around 150-250 USD and strollers around 350-450 USD; the gold line of products balance quality and price for parents who are looking for a long-lasting investment, the price for this gamma is around 450-650 USD in retailers; last but not least, their luxury catalog of products, the Platinum line, here you can find the highest-quality products with exclusive designs and user-friendly setup and features, here we find two models of strollers, the Cybex MIOS, which is their lightweight Platinum stroller, it has many features like portability and its price is around 800-1200 USD depending on the design; and their most complete and luxurious product, the Cybex PRIAM, being made with very high-quality materials and manufacturing, this stroller is a long-term investment, its dimmensions allow your passenger to be comfortable during their growth and, with the right attachments, you can use the stroller in any kind of weather, the price of the single stroller is around 1200-1900 USD, and around 2000-2200 USD full-equipped with all its accessories.

Competition:

Chicco Bravo Travel System:

Chicco was created in 1958 by Pietro Catelli to cover any baby’s needs from 0 to 36 months. Currently, Chicco is the biggest baby care company in the business. Thanks to their safety standards and variety of products they have a presence in more than 120 countries around the world. Chicco offers from creams for skincare to strollers and travel systems; with their affordable prices and good quality, they have become the most popular brand for baby care products. The Chicco Bravo stroller is one of their best products, it’s affordable, good quality, and it includes most of its accessories. This stroller is compatible with the KeyFit and the KeyFit 30, which are among the best options for infant car seats.

The Chicco Bravo stroller includes most of the accessories that Cybex and other brands sell separately, like the cup holder or the rain cover. Among the main features for the parent’s comfort, we find the adjustable handlebar, ample storage, and the one-hand fold. This stroller is designed to be everything you need for an affordable price. However, the limited number of models and the quality of the plastic of some pieces can be fragile. The wheels of the Chicco Bravo are made of plastic, which makes the stroller easy to drive only on smooth surfaces. The brake system of the Chicco Bravo keeps the stroller still, but because of the wheels’ material, it’s better if you don’t fully rely on them. It also works with a five-point harness, which is very sturdy and a little hard to take off, and the straps are not recommendable for the baby’s delicate skin. However, the price is the most appealing feature, as you can find it on retailers around 140-180 USD.

Graco Modes Travel System:

Graco is an American company founded from Graco Metal Products in 1953, their original baby product was the first automatic baby swing called the “Swyngomatic,” at the time, the innovative product had such a success that Graco became the world’s leading baby gear manufacturer. Currently, Graco keeps amazing us with innovative designs, good quality, and affordable prices. The Graco Modes travel system includes the Graco Snug Ride Snug Lock 35, and this prepackaged product is part of their best products because it can be used from birth up to 50 lbs.

The seat unit of the Modes stroller is made to be comfortable for the baby and practical for the parent, the seat is made with soft-textured fabric to keep the baby’s skin harmless, and the five-point harness is very simple to put on, take off, and set up to the passenger’s shoulders, there’s also a bumper bar with a cupholder attached to the frame; on the other hand, the stroller can carry around 10 lbs, and thanks to the lightweight aluminum frame, it is very easy to carry for a full-sized stroller, the one-hand flat recline will easily help you find the perfect position for your baby to take a nap. The Graco Snug Ride Snug Lock 35 is a high-ranked infant car seat, thanks to its great results in the crash-test, it has become in one of the main options for the modern parent because of its affordable price and ease of use. You can get this prepackaged product to cover most of your necessities for around 210-240 USD on retailers.

Stokke Trailz Stroller and Carry Cot Bundle:

Stokke is a Norwegian company with more than 40 years of experience in baby care solutions; their designs cover from lightweight and portable to fully-equipped and sturdy strollers. This is a high-end brand for parents who are looking for the best money can buy, their main focus in the company is to help parents develop their babies the best way possible. The Stokke Trailz is their off-road stroller version; it is equipped with air-filled wheels to keep the smooth drive even in the hardest surfaces. This stroller can also be used as a travel system if you get the prepackaged version that includes the Carry Cot Bundle, which can be helpful when you want to safely transport your newborn.

Among the features of this stroller, we can find the reversible seat with 3 recline positions, including a flat position for napping. The adjustable handlebar is covered with leather-like material for the parent’s comfort. The storage basket is waterproof, and it can carry up to 10 lbs. Even if this stroller is easy to maneuver on almost any kind of surface, it weighs 30 lbs, which is a lot for the number of features, and it can be hard to transport. On the other hand, the prepackaged travel system version includes the Carry Cot Bundle, which can carry your baby from birth up to 30 lbs, and it also includes the rain cover, seat padding, rear textile cover, harness protector, seat rail cover and canopy with a peek-a-boo window.

Final Verdict of Cybex PRIAM stroller review:

During this review, our team could notice that the safety and comfort standards are present in each Cybex stroller and infant car seat, and this constant quality is the main reason for their popularity. The Cybex PRIAM is among their best products, along with the Cybex MIOS and the e-PRIAM. This stroller is complete, includes very rare features like the option of skis, and it is made for parents who are not just looking for the best money can buy, but a representative stroller that will look good in any environment you are in. Many of the features on this stroller are present in cheaper options in the market. Still, if you are looking for a fashionable product with excellent performance, the Cybex PRIAM may fit your necessities.
